Community Rules

Post responsibly. Keep it factual. Keep it legal.

TheyDidNotPayMe is a public accountability platform. These rules exist to keep claims useful, verifiable, and safe for everyone. Violations can lead to content removal and account suspension.

Be truthful Be specific Be careful with identity No harassment

1) What this community is for

  • Sharing factual experiences about unpaid debts, broken agreements, or non-payment.
  • Posting evidence-based timelines: what was agreed, what was delivered, what was paid (if anything), and what remains.
  • Helping others avoid the same bad outcome by sticking to verifiable details.
Rule of thumb: Write like your post will be reviewed by a neutral third party. If you can’t support it, don’t post it.

2) Posting standards

Required

  • Accurate details: dates, amounts, what the agreement was, what was delivered, and what is owed.
  • Evidence: screenshots of invoices, contracts, receipts, messages, or payment requests (where relevant).
  • Clear language: stick to what happened; separate facts from opinions.

Encouraged

  • Give the other party a chance to resolve: include a brief note like “I requested payment on [date].”
  • Keep it concise: timeline + supporting proof beats a long rant.
  • Use neutral labels: “Client,” “Tenant,” “Contractor,” “Roommate,” etc.

3) Prohibited content (will be removed)

Not allowed: anything that creates a real-world safety risk, violates privacy, or becomes harassment.

Harassment & threats

  • Threats, doxxing, intimidation, extortion, or encouraging others to harass someone.
  • Hate speech, slurs, or degrading content targeting protected groups.

Privacy & personal data

  • No personal addresses, personal phone numbers, personal emails, government IDs, bank details, or private documents.
  • No posting of someone else’s private messages that include sensitive personal data.
  • No “find this person” or crowdsourced stalking requests.

Illegal or harmful instructions

  • No instructions to evade law enforcement, scam, hack, or retaliate.
  • No posts promoting violence or self-harm.

Fraud & impersonation

  • No impersonating individuals or businesses.
  • No fake claims, fabricated evidence, or deceptive edits.

Spam

  • No ads, affiliate spam, referral schemes, or unrelated promotions.

4) Identity and photos

  • Only upload photos you have the right to share.
  • Don’t upload images containing private documents (IDs, bank info, medical records, etc.).
  • If you’re unsure whether a detail is private: remove it, blur it, or leave it out.
Tip: When posting screenshots, redact (black out) phone numbers, emails, and addresses before uploading.

5) Claims vs. allegations

  • State what you can prove: “Invoice sent,” “Work completed,” “Payment overdue by X days.”
  • Avoid labeling someone with crimes or serious misconduct unless you have official documentation.
  • Use “in my experience” for opinions, and keep accusations out of headlines.

6) Reporting and takedowns

  • If you see a rule violation, report it.
  • If you’re the subject of a post and believe it’s inaccurate or violates privacy rules, you can request review.
  • We may remove or edit content that violates these rules, even without notice.

7) Enforcement

  • Content removal (partial or full)
  • Account warnings
  • Temporary suspension
  • Permanent bans for severe/repeated violations

8) Best practices for a strong post

  • Headline: “Unpaid invoice: $___ for ___ (Due: ___)”
  • Timeline: 3–6 bullets with dates
  • Proof: 1–4 clean screenshots (redacted)
  • Resolution: “I’m requesting payment by ___”
